Storm Claudia brought with it a deluge of rain that wiped out most of Sunday’s fixture list, with grass pitches hit hard and only seven matches surviving the weather.

Only two Premier Division games went ahead, with Cheshire Cheese moving to within three points of leaders Whitby after seeing off bottom-placed Woodchurch FC, winning 3-0. Charlie Bennett, Dylan White, and Matty Welding were the men on target.
A solitary Jack McGrotty strike proved decisive as Beechwood edged a narrow 1-0 win over KRCT Bidston to overtake their opponents in the league.
In Veronica Conway Cup action, Whitby FC took a welcome break from recent league duties in an attempt to get their season back up and running after two defeats on the bounce. However, it was always going to be a tough ask when Dock travelled to Ellesmere Port. A Kieran Hamm (pictured) penalty was all that separated the sides as Dock followed up last week’s 3-1 league victory with a tight 1-0 cup win.
David Tacy Cup second-round action saw Oxton Celtic progress courtesy of a 3-1 victory over Shaftesbury FC. Sean Deehan, Harry Sutton, and Kyle Hesketh all found the net for Celtic, while Ryan Griffiths grabbed Shaftesbury’s only goal.
Division Two saw just one game survive the conditions, with Upton Willows securing a convincing 4-0 win over Poulton Victoria S&S. Harry Bough led the way with a brace, while Owen Hollywood and Layton Harding added a goal apiece.
A top-of-the-table clash in Division Three saw Parkgate St Germain host West Kirby United, but the sides could not be separated as the match ended in a 1-1 stalemate. Mike Moran was on target for Parkgate, with Robbie Nairn replying for West Kirby. The result keeps West Kirby top on 20 points, with Parkgate second on 19 and AFC Raeburn sitting in third on 16 with two games in hand.
In the only other match to survive the weather, it was goals galore as West Kirby Wasps defeated Lighthouse FC in an eight-goal thriller. Lighthouse saw Declan Cleary bag a brace and Joe Deakin add another, but the Wasps hit back with five of their own. Harry Mason led the charge with a double, while Tom Wright, Tom Roberts, and Jackson Hughes all chipped in with a goal each.
