Houlihan’s Birkenhead Sunday Football League Press Report for Sunday 04th April 2021,

After an enforced three months absence the Sunday Soccer returned with the emphasis being on the league programme for promotion and relegation both Dock AFC and Queens Park returned maximum points in The Houlihan’s Birkenhead Sunday Association Football League Premier Division from their restart as games actually kicked off in midweek due to the government restrictions being lifted from Monday 29th March, Queens Park notched a 6 goal haul in both the games 6-0 over Bushell Grange, thanks to Lewis Willingham and Levi Chiduka with a brace each and singles from Dave Webb & Ben Holmes, Sunday they saw off the challenge of highly fancied Beechwood FC (Leo Riley, Jordan Deer, Scott Billington 2) 6-4 this time a Mike Burkey hatrick led the way, Ben Holmes finding the onion bag again with Adam Smith and Danny Povall also on the scoresheet, Ryan Smith and Adam Lea found the net for Dock AFC on Thursday to defeat Lancelyn Glenavon 2-0 and sunk Great Float Sports & Social on Sunday 4-1 with efforts from Haydon Cooper, David Forbes, Adam Lea & Kevin Hamn, they are close on the heels of Rock Ferry Social (Effion Alfa, Mark Connolly) who dropped their first points of the season in a evening game on Thursday in a fine 2-2 draw with Beechwood FC (Jamie Manifold, Jack McGrotty) and then returned a superb 5-0 thumping of Neston Nomads to stay 5 points clear but with strange results happening right through out football anything can happen, Lancelyn accounted for Bushell Grange Athletic (Ian Bennett, Alfie McNicholas) 2-0

Rivacre (Jamie Eaton 2, Sinkinson) lead the way in Division One after back to back wins, first it was a 3-1 success over FC Tranmere (Nathan Mewis) 3-1 and a 8-0 rout over AFC Shaftes (Joe Foster, Joe Brandon, Dan Cross, Alex Wilson, Jamie Eaton, Nick Wakefield, Andy Rogers 2) ,Corsair FC moved into 2nd place even though they have two games in hand and are 9 point in arrears posting a 3-1 away win at Woodchurch Rovers (Callum Whitby) with efforts from Lewis Clarke, James Bayley Kieran Donaghue and a 2nd comfortable away win at Telegraph FC (Tom Price) 6-2 Brad Greer with a treble, Alan Bull hitting a double and a Leighton Clarke effort, last Tuesday saw the Shaftes derby, with Shaftesbury Youth running out 1-0 victors with AFC Shaftes thanks to the only goal of the game from Tyler Smith, Shaftesbury Youth (Liam Davies, Charlie Chatterton, Alan Cross, Lewis McKnight, Kyle Davies) called the tune in their Sunday encounter with Wirral Radio 5-0, Wirral Radio (Shane Hooker, Matt Lydiate) registered a superb win over Lions FC (Owen Kelsey) in midweek then Lions FC (Ameel Al Gamri, Matt Kerr 2, Steve Dutton Penalty, Sam Langan, Ricky Harrison) returned to winning ways with a thumping result over FC Tranmere (Iain Colligan) 6-1, after suffering a 4-1 reversal to Telegraph FC (Alex Bowell, Ben Fitzpatrick, Dan Price, Scott Wright) Ellesmere Port Athletic (Jack Rigby Michael Urmston) picked up their point of the season in a share of the spoils with Woodchurch Rovers ( Owen Wharton, Marc Houston) 2-2

Division Two leaders The Lukes dropped points for the first time this season in midweek with Bromborough Rake after a Peter Charles double strike in a keenly contested 2-2 draw but got back to winning ways at the week end with a narrow 2-1 scoreline in a real 6 pointer at Neston United (Mark Nokes) hitting the all important goals for The Lukes were Ben Kearney and Will Bulpin, Neston United suffered their first reversal in a league game, both look good for promotion this season, Upton Town secured maximum points with a 4-3 result over Belmont in midweek and in a local derby with Upton Town registered 2-0 over Eagle Stirrup FC Tom Ward and Tom Blaydon finding the net in the derby game while Will O’Leary, Tom Blaydon, Brendan Doherty and Callum Mernock were on the mark at Belmont FC, Wellington steered to four points in their games with Joe Kelly hitting two at Vauxhall Motors FC and shared the honours with Barkers FC (Ash Robinson) and Ellis Byrne finding back of the net for Wellington FC, it was similar for JPL Jets who had a four point haul 4-1 at Barcodes shared the spoils with Bromborough Rake 2-2,

Jack Kelly found his shooting boots for Division three leaders New Ferry Rangers bagging a five goal haul over MSC Eastham and four against Wirral Athletic, Adam Larway completed the 6-1 rout of MSC Eastham and Louis Haddock, Leon Murray & Nathan Crabtree completing the scoring in a 7-0 romp against Wirral Athletic, MSC Eastham (Neil O’Toole, Mason Tyler Holland 2, Zach Tyler Holland, Joe Keenan, Josh Worsley) turned the tide on Sunday trouncing Ranger Breaks 6-0, a Martin Whalley hat trick for Silva Athletic was enough to inflict a 3-2 defeat on Rangers Breaks in midweek and while Jordan Edge and a Jenson Mackie brace was enough to win at AFC Park North by the odd goal in five 3-2, Victoria Colts re start remain unbeaten recording a 3-1 result over AFC Tima (Mike Redgrift) and shared the points at AFC Raeburn (Andy Gill) 1-1, Mid table Oval FC (John Skipsey 2, Jack Brown, Matthew Vaggersm Michael Simpson) had a 5-1 convincing over Parkgate St German
