Houlihan’s Birkenhead Sunday Football League Press Report for Sunday 04th October 2020,

Five games were lost due the heavy rain and with the season only being in its second week it could a long autumn and winter ahead, we had the same heavy rain 12 months ago,

A William New double led the way for new club Barkers in Division Two supplemented by further strikes from Ashley Robinson and Mark Munt to dent Vauxhall Motors 4-2. Bromborough Rake shot down JPL Jets by the same scoreline thanks to Kie Delaney, Kie Hughes, Jay Thomas and Connor Hughes efforts, Promoted Neston United (Kieran Gilbody 3, Ben Pearson 2, Nick Jones 2, Jake Munroe, Liam Jeacock) went on the goal rampage with a fine 9-1 result of Madisons,

Beechwood and Dock AFC registered their first maximum points haul in the Premier Division with both teams running out 5-1 victors against Bushell Grange Athletic (Ben Evans) and FC Bidston (Carl Hamm) respectfully, Jack McGrotty and Scott Billington both notching a brace each with Robert Courtney completing the scoring for Beechwood, Adam Lea with a double and singles from Dave Forbes, Ryan Smith and Steve Forbes on the mark for Beechwood, Great Float Sports & Social shared the spoils with Neston Nomads (Lewis Clarke & Jack Lloyd) in a 2-2 draw, Queens Park (Levi Chiduka, Harvey Sample) also had to share the points with the same 2-2 result with Lancelyn Glenavon (Joe Downey, Danny Dixon)

The game of the day in Division One saw a local Derby with AFC Shaftes taking the honours over Shaftesbury Youth 2-1 to notch their first points of the new campaign, a similar result saw Telegraph FC (Tom Ashcroft, Andy Noonan) have the narrowest of wins 2-1 over FC Tranmere (Iain Colligan), free scoring Lions FC (Matty Kerr 2, Ameel al Gamri 2, Dave McElroy, Ricky Harrison, Matty Williams) took pole position with a comfortable win at Ellesmere Port Athletic (Chris Georgeson 2, Jason Farley), Rivacre FC (Andy Rodgers, Alex Wilson) maintained their perfect start posting a 2-0 win at the expense of Woodchurch Rovers,

Division Three action was more like The English Premier League with plenty of goals, a superb hatrick from Josh Ross took the spoils for Victoria Colts defeating MSC Eastham (Brandon Martin) 3-1, New Ferry Rangers accounted for AFC Raeburn 5-0, AFC Tima (Mark Redgrift, Philip Bibby 3, David Turner 2, Alan Merrin, Steve Gateley, Tony Jones, Myles Davies) had a resounding 10 win over Parkgate St Germain, Rangers Breaks notched another fine win to earn two back to back maximum points and move into second place on goal difference bagging the goals for the New Ferry side were a Liam Roberts hatrick and a double from Chris Caress registering a 5-3 win over Wirral Athletic (Richie Whitby, Ben Verdin), AFC Park Road North got off the mark and put points on the board with a 3-1 success at Oval FC (John Skipsey)
